Riverside
Cottage is a self catering holiday cottage next to Pulhams Mill on
the eastern edge of the Exmoor National Park in Somerset. This
site is one of the oldest on Exmoor (1086AD) and features in the
Domesday Book. Formed
from a converted shippon and completed in the spring of 2002 the cottage
offers luxurious holiday accommodation and is available throughout the
year. Owners
Ian Mawby and Pauline Clements, who live at the Mill across the
road, have put a huge amount of time and loving attention into the
building.
The cottage has been designed to accommodate up to 6 adults in
comfort with 1 double and 2 twin bedrooms, all en-suite.
There is good access and parking and the cottage is
secluded, south facing and rural beside the river Pulham. There are
beautiful views of fields and hills and a quiet valley leading to the
Haddeo river.
Ian is a furniture maker and has made a number of items for the cottage
including much of the kitchen. The floors are mostly oak and the
double glazed windows have chestnut frames.
Free Craft Tuition at Riverside Cottage
At present we are offering free limited craft tuition in China Painting by Pauline during your stay (seasonally limited offer).
Later in the year we plan to offer a whole range of 2 , 3 or 4
day courses in wood carving and water colour painting. We will
then be offering bed and breakfast, lunch & accommodation in
Riverside Cottage or at other B&B's in the village. If you
send us your address & or your Email we will send you our
curriculum when it is prepared.

You are welcomed
into the hall by the glow of the wood burner through the
half-glazed door. Then into the oak-floored and comfortably
furnished lounge with TV.
|
|
A large opening leads to the well
equipped kitchen/dining room. This has French doors onto the patio
which overlooks the river.
When sitting at the kitchen table by the window you can hear the
river trickling by and watch birds including ducks (and possibly
otters) whilst having your breakfast.

Back in the
hall. To the left is the downstairs twin-bedroom, suitable for the
disabled and with en-suite toilet and shower room. (This WC
can also be used as a cloakroom by entering from the hall).
|
|
|
Up the oak stairway to
the right is the master double bedroom. This has an en-suite shower
and toilet. There are original beams above the bed from which there are views down the river.

 |
|
 |
On the landing there is the
main bathroom which features a hand painted tile mural by Pauline.
She has hidden 4 fairies and a couple of pixies in the painting -
so there's a good excuse for a long hot bath while trying to find them!
|
|
This bathroom is also en-suite
to the other twin bedroom, again with views of the river and the
countryside.
